We came in on a Sunday around 11. There was a good flow of people, and we were served our order pretty quickly. There was a good amount of seating inside as well. We ordered the chicken alfredo, pizza, birria, chicken and potato, spicy steak, Nutella, and apple pie. Before I get into each one, they are fried when you order them and we decided to eat at the location. They were brought out on plates and labeled. Chicken alfredo: The flavor is there! The texture on the chicken was a little different, but it was good. Pizza: Think of it as a mini calzone. Delicious! I would have liked a little marinera on the side to dip it in, but overall it was delicious. Birria: The meat was tender and well seasoned. The consume was also a nice touch, you can't have a birria anything without consume. Tons of flavor! Chicken and potato: I really enjoyed this one. The chicken was rich in flavor, and the potato was diced very small so it didn't overpower the taste or the filling. Spicy steak: The steak has tons of flavor, I didn't think it was too spicy, it was for sure missing something though. Nutella: Disclaimer, I did not taste this one, it has bananas in it and I am allergic to them. My husband said it tastes like a bananas foster. Apple Pie: This is comfort wrapped in a fluffy pillow. It was my favorite. The apples are tender and so good. It was dusted in powdered sugar and comes with dulce de leche dipping sauce.

Been meaning to try this place since it's been highly recommended on Yelp and among my social circle. The empanadas are made to order but not customizable. The staff are friendly and helpful. I ordered a dozen to share among my party. The empanadas are nice and crispy but fairly heavy. I think the breading exterior is on the thicker side. The different empanadas are mildly flavored so each individual empanada doesn't stand out on their own. They're good with though.

I love empanadas. Oh Lord, this place is good. Lord Empanadas is located in Monrovia, CA and they made the yelp top 100 list in 2023. I think that they are definitely worth visiting! They have sweet and savory empanadas. The Apple Pie empanada with caramel sauce is a must have. But their meat empanadas with chimichurri are also a must have. Honestly, though, I must have it all. Even if you choose not to have empanadas, it's still good. I went with their choripan, which is the South American version of hot dog with chorizo and chimichurri. Guess what? It's a must have. Any time I'm in the Duarte area, I can't resist coming to this must-have place. I should have taken pictures, but I eat these too quickly. In case you missed it, it's a must-have.

Lord Empanada is a fantastic spot for some of the best empanadas in town. I used the inKind app to pay, which offers discounted credit through Costco, making it a great deal. For $42, I got a dozen empanadas, saving around $5 compared to the individual price of $3.95 each. I tried a variety of flavors, including beef, spinach and cheese, birria queso, spicy asada, apple pie, and cheesecake empanadas. While all were delicious, the birria queso was my absolute favorite. The service here is exceptional--staff go above and beyond. Shout out to Zoey and Ryan! From greeting us warmly upon arrival to helping us navigate the inKind app, they were attentive and passionate, answering all our questions with enthusiasm. The service was quick and added a personal touch that made the experience even better. The interior has a cozy, homey vibe, especially in the evening, making it a comfortable place to dine. It's a self-seating setup and works well for small to mid-sized groups. They also feature beers from local breweries, which is a great addition. I enjoyed a chilled can of Hop Secret for only $6, with cold beer glasses provided from the fridge--a thoughtful touch. Parking can be a challenge with a small lot on-site, but there is street parking and additional parking across the block. Despite the parking situation, the quality of the food and the incredible service make this place worth the visit. Highly recommend for empanada lovers!

Such amazing empanadas and I was so hungry that I didn't even get a picture of empanadas. I ordered the traditional beef with raisins and olives, and it was delicious . Especially with the chimichurri sauce. I also ordered the birria with cheese and dipping sauce, which was good, but I preferred the beef more. I wish I had someone with me so I could've ordered the tri- tip sandwich that also looks fantastic and had great reviews. I did try the Nutella banana dessert empanada , which was also delicious. Service was courteous and good . Ambience was comfortable and clean . I will be back .

To put it simply - this place was a treat! Of late I've been prone to ordering for delivery - it's been busy. That said I went for two empanadas: one was the ground beef with raisins, olives, and potatoes and the other was the birria. Both were really good and were complimented by the salsa and chimichurri that comes with it. The chimichurri was good enough to drink - I really liked it a lot!! And, I mixed it with the salsa -- even better! The empanadas were about the size of my palm. The flavor on both was pretty good - I'd definitely try some of their other offerings such as the spinach cheese. I did feel myself missing the raisins and olives in my empanada - for this, I'd want to try this place again. I was planning for that to be the highlight of the flavor profile. Definitely worth trying again!!

Thank you James L!! As a visitor to the greater LA area, I am always grateful to find new establishments, ESPECIALLY if they were on the Yelp's 2023 Top 100 Places to Eat. They were in the middle of the pack but on the LIST nonetheless. I had 4 different empanadas to try along with 4 different sauces. I will admit that I have a cat's tongue and spice is usually a "no-no" for me BUT their seasonings were spot on. My favorite was the beef empanada (well, truth is I like beef PERIOD Dot) Seasoned well and I'll bet it tasted even better when its fresh out of the fryer! The empanadas are deep fried (they might want to try baking it) and even on a re-heat- the pastry shell was still decent and crunchy My next visit will be to try other dishes they offer. Thank you James L!

A Yelp friend (Norman R) recommended this spot. He said that the Lord of Empanadas will definitely impress me w their empanadas. He was right!! My 2nd time here within a week... which means their empanadas are delicious and worth coming back for!! So far, I've tried the birria, beef, and chicken. I really, really liked the birria!! It has a very piquant taste, and comes w consome. Chicken was ok, and the beef was good. The chimichurri was really good too!! Parking here is non-existent, so I suggest parking across the street at the gas station. You're lucky if you're able to get one of the 4 spots available but chances are, you won't!! The inside is a bit small and dark (perfect lighting for vampires on a date), and there are a few tables to accommodate small groups. Service was decent. Staff are nice but the wait time was longer than I had expected both times dining in. Overall, I love the empanadas here and will definitely be coming back for more!!!

Literally some of the beeest empanadas I've had! We visited Lord Empanada on a whim, since it was one of the few places open early around where we were at the time. We ordered a box of 12 empanadas ($42) to share amongst 6 people, which was perfect since we all ended up getting 2 each. I got the mushroom and the chicken, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. The mushroom was a crowd fav the filling was savory and garlicky! The chicken also tasted super good. The chicken was pretty soft and well-seasoned, and the potatoes also were an excellent addition. The pastry overall was flakey and had the perfect golden brown color. We only waited about 8-10 minutes for the order! It also comes with a selection of sauces on the side. Definitely will be back if we're ever in the area again =)

YES!!! Today I had the opportunity to visit Lord Empanada and purchase some of their scrumptious empanadas compliments of many years of experience, and ancestral love and culinary expertise! This is home of the best!! Authentic Argentinian cuisine. For a mere $42 you can dine-in or take out a dozen of the best empanadas that could ever enter your mouth and tantalize your taste buds. Today we came home with a pair of: Mushroom, Breakfast (1 Ham & 1 Chorizo), Birria, Chicken Pot Pie, Spinach & Cheese, and Black Bean for a dozen delicious pieces of treasure. Accompanied by 4 containers of regular, and 2 containers of spicy chimichurri sauce. You know that you are in the right place, upon entering and seeing a room filled with patrons that have a look of total gratification on their face as they sample their empanadas and culinary sandwiches prepared with excellence! The 3 hours round-trip drive is worth it! If you dine in, the establishment has Argentine wine, and some extremely interesting craft beers in cans, but offers chilled glass mugs for your enjoyment. If you are in the area, drop-in, and you will not be disappointed. Thank you Lord Empanada.
